Photoshoot Collage

Here is a collage of the best photos from my Photoshoot.

Monitoring Log 31st January

Unfortunately, this week has been rocked by the fact the game between Spraire Lads Elite and Northallerton Juniors was called off due to poor weather conditions. Therefore, because of this, I have been creating my contents page, bringing its production forward.

Due to these changes I am going to amend my schedule to ensure I have something organised to follow - I will do this during a study period during college hours later today.

When creating my contents page I have been faced with many difficulties - one was the fact I saved the product as a Jpeg and forgot to as a Photoshop document in case of any errors, as there was as i later found some spelling errors!I have, however, since revised this and created a much better contents page than before.

Below are a few mock-ups of the contents page that i created, taking a lot of inspiration from a unique, A5 football magazine with low quality paper.

Here is the contents page that had the spelling mistakes, the current contents page is under creation and hasn't been saved as a Jpeg yet due to a lack of time, I am just awaiting the chance to add some text.
Below is the magazine that I used as inspiration:

Consent Forms

Here are my consent forms, I am currently missing the forms from the Spraire Lads Elite parents, and Kader Athletic Manager because the game is yet to take place. This was arranged because the game between Spraire Lads and Northallerton was abandoned due to poor weather conditions, forcing me to change my schedule.

Explaining my product before gaining consent

Below is the text message that I sent to all of the parents at Darlington Spraire Lads Elite in regards to gaining consent to take photos and use names of children.

Hi everyone, as part of my A2 media coursework we are making a short magazine of which I have decided to base upon grassroots football, therefore I plan to use our team for the magazine. I will be writing a match report, an interview article and a review of a coaching drill.
The idea of this coursework is to create a local magazine that would be distributed through the Northern Echo (it won't actually). Basically, images of the children and their names will be used in my magazine so I need consent from you all. The images and names will be published on the internet through my media blog which is how the magazine will be examined by the examiner.
I plan to use the Northallerton game (26th) as my match report so will be taking photos. I will also be taking photos in a training session up at Hummersknott of a training drill. I will pass a consent form around at the game against Middleton this Sunday. I need written permission you see as I will have to scan the document onto my blog or else I could face big problems with my coursework. I will take it as though I haven't gained consent for certain children if their row isn't signed.
Thanks for the cooperation. See you all tomorrow,
Ben.

Weekend Monitoring Log 24th-26th

Over the weekend, my aims were to attend a grassroots football match, take photos, and record notes from the match that would enable me to begin writing a match report article the following week, however, during the game, it was called off to heavy rain - this also meant I couldn't get the camera out to take photographs.

This therefore means that I will have to push this article creation backwards, bringing forward my review article.

24th January - Monitoring Log

24th January.

Monitoring Log

According to my schedule, I was meant to have completed writing my interview article, however, it is taking longer than expected due to the length of my interview (1 hour, 1 minute) which has taken a long while to fully transcribe.
Apart from the struggle of transcribing my interview, I have slightly been on schedule, and I have some free periods this afternoon in which I will continue with my article.

On Monday I began to transcribe my interview, which again flowed over to the Tuesday. With some hard work outside of lessons, I finally finished transcribing the interview on the third lesson of the week – Thursday. Outside of college I began to write my interview article, which I continued throughout the Friday lesson (now).

Unfortunately, due to the length of my interview, the whole process of writing this interview article has been a struggle, especially since the transcription was very time consuming. Now, I am finding it hard to extract all of the bets material from my interview article.
Fortunately, though, I haven’t had to use any contingency planning – as of yet anyway.

When writing my interview article, I decided to highlight the transcript to give references to different key parts that will help me structure my article. For example, the red refers to my interviewee’s American Football team, and the blue refers to his football team, the Spraire Lads Panthers.

First Monitoring Log

1.   How have you organised your schedule? Why has it been organised this way?
I have organised my schedule very carefully in that I have tried to allow myself enough time to complete tasks. I found it easy to plan that I would create a DPS in just one session, however, to be plausible I had to make sure I evaluated past experiences and times in which it took me to create a product. This has allowed me to create a schedule that is very precise with times, hopefully ensuring that I do not spend to long on one aspect of production, leaving me with little time for the others.

2.   Is your schedule realistic?
I would say that my schedule is realistic because I have evaluated the free time I have in terms of homework, and I have also allowed myself plausible times to do things as I could have given myself just one hour to create a front cover, where in reality, I would need much longer to create a good product.

3.   Discuss any contingency time you have built in to your schedule. Why have you done this?
Towards the end of the schedule I have allowed myself some time to go back over my products which may have not been finished in the allocated time, or may not be up to scratch. I felt I should do this because if worst comes to worst, I have a few days to fall back on, potentially allowing me to make improvements.

4.   What are going to be the big challenges in your schedule?
Without a doubt, the biggest challenges I will face in regards to my schedule, will be sticking to it because it is natural for anyone to rush the boring parts of production in eagerness of creating front covers etc. I feel that with my organised personality, this shouldn’t cause too much of a problem, but there is the chance of straying from the schedule in which should be kept to carefully in order to meet my deadline with a great product.

I feel that this week has gone really well as I have covered a lot of things. The first few days have gone really well because I have handed out consent forms, conducted Reece's, done my photoshoot plans, completed a schedule, began conducting my risk assessments and seem to be on top of everything so far.

Lighting assistant: 1
Makeup assistant: N/A

What props will you need?
1 x American Football Helmet
1 x American Football
1 x Pair of Football boots
1 x Football
1 x Spraire Lads Coaching attire
      Coaching books, and whiteboard

Describe in detail your make-up & costume needs. (Include reference material to illustrate your needs)
My model will not wear make-up because of the magazine genre (football) tending not to be based around fashion nor appearance. The costume I intend on my model wearing will consist of a black polo shirt.

Studio shoots: what kind of lighting?

(include reference material to illustrate your needs)
I will use broad lighting so that the side of the face closet to the camera is lit, whilst the more hidden side is shady. I would like to do this because it can show the contrasting emotions of coaching football through the imagery and lighting.
